“Smart toys are becoming increasingly popular and commercially available. Whilst they can be fun to use and also benefit people’s well-being, they present certain safety and ethical risks too. The Ethical Risk Assessment is an important tool to identify these risks and prompt consideration of ways to address them. Our Ethical Risk Assessment exercise brought together researchers with an interest in smart toys and Responsible Robotics. This included members of the RoboTIPS study, the Responsible Technology Institute at Oxford and researchers working on the Purrble toy.”
